Christie’s Experience With NFTs

Founded by James Christie in 1766, Christie’s has been in the field of auctioning artwork, luxury goods, jewelry, and clothing for well over a century. Last year, the auction house made its foray into the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology space when it sold its first-ever NFT at auction, Robert Alice’s Block 21 from Portraits of a Mind, for $131,250.

Christie’s also held an NFT auction in May, where the auction house sold 9 Cryptopunks for $16 Million. The Beeple NFT sale, which closed at a mind-boggling $69 Million, was also thanks to a significant role played by the auction house. The Beeple NFT remains the most NFT to date. Another NFT artist, “Fewocious,” raked in $2 Million during another auction held by Christie’s.

Bored Apes, Cryptopunks, And Meebits On Auction

“Christie’s presents No Time Like Present, featuring the very first NFT sale in Asia offered by an international auction house. The Christie’s website notes. Key highlights of the sale will include a group of exceptionally rare Cryptopunks created by Larva Labs, as well as Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Larva Labs’ latest creation, Meebits.
